Our client is looking for someone to conduct biological experiments under the direction of management and performs structured work assignments. Extracts information from existing databases or literature, preparing data for biological analysis. Engages in both basic and applied research focused on microbial, plant, human, and animal life, examining their origin, anatomy, and biological functions. Specializes in microbiology, genetics, molecular/cellular biology, and virology, contributing to the study of various biological systems and their applications.
Pay: $25-$30/hr
Location: Columbus, OH
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts research on biological systems, focusing on their structure, function, behavior, and practical applications.
- Collects and analyzes biological data in both simple and complex environments.
- Performs technical evaluations of biological mechanisms and properties.
- Plans and conducts experiments, determining test procedures, limits, and instrumentation.
- Analyzes test data to assess validity and application, and troubleshoots when results are not as expected.
- Recommends solutions to resolve analytical problems and completes projects within schedule and budget.
- Modifies testing processes to improve quality or efficiency.
- Writes components of technical reports and interprets experimental results.
- Assists with training new technical staff and may support business development initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 2 years of qPCR and DNA sequencing experience
- Experience with:
- Microbiology: Investigates the growth, structure, development, and physiology of microscopic organisms at the molecular and cellular levels, as well as their ecology in mixed communities.
- Genetics, Molecular/Cellular Biology: Studies and modifies genetic systems of organisms, including gene expression into functioning RNAs and proteins, and their response to various stimuli.
- Virology: Investigates viruses, including submicroscopic parasitic particles and virus-like agents.
