Food Scientist

Our client specializes in chemical and ingredient distribution and provides services to customers across a wide range of industries such as paints, coatings, & lubricating fluids. They are looking for a Food Scientist to join their team!

Location: Chicago metro area
Pay: $28 - $30
Shift: 1st Shift

Responsibilities:
  • Product Development: Collaborate with R&D, marketing, and production teams to conceptualize and develop new food products that align with consumer trends and company objectives. Utilize culinary techniques to create prototypes that focus on flavor, texture, and visual appeal.
  • Formulation and Testing: Develop and refine product formulations to meet functional, nutritional, and sensory targets. Conduct sensory evaluations and incorporate feedback to improve recipes. Test product stability, shelf life, and scalability for mass production.
  • Culinary Innovation: Stay up to date on culinary trends, ingredients, and cooking techniques to inspire innovative product ideas. Experiment with novel ingredients and technologies to create cutting-edge food solutions.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain detailed records of formulations, test results, and processes. Ensure all products comply with food safety regulations, labeling requirements, and company standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with quality assurance, production, and procurement teams to transition prototypes into scalable manufacturing processes. Participate in customer presentations and tastings, showcasing culinary expertise.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, or a related field; an associate degree in Culinary Arts with relevant food science experience is acceptable.
  • 3-5 years of experience in product development, preferably in food manufacturing or culinary innovation.
  • Knowledge of food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
