Animal Care Technician (Research)

A growing client in research is looking to grow their team with hiring a new Animal Care Tech! If you have experience caring for animals in a veterinary or research field, we’d love to talk to you about this role!

Schedule: 1st Shift (7:30am-4pm) Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs (must be comfortable with both possible schedules)

Pay: $19/hr.
Contract to Hire

As an Animal Care Technician, you should have husbandry experience, a desire to work in a research environment, a good work ethic, and be content providing care for the animals on study. If you have experience with large animals, rodents, or research, this would be a great fit for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily care to laboratory animals including feeding, watering, and cage cleaning.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of animal health as well as all SOP and regulatory required documents.
  • Sanitize animal rooms, cages, and other equipment to maintain a healthy environment for animals.  Operate sanitizing equipment, environmental housing equipment and research related equipment.
  • Interpret medical orders, accurately calculate pharmacologic doses and administer medications.
  • Post-operative exams, evaluations and data collection
  • Assist with the transport and receipt of animals
  • Review and evaluate medical records, research data for accuracy
  • Mentor new Animal Care Tech I staff

Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED & a minimum of  2 years of lab animal exp or veterinary  experience.  Alternatively an Associates or Bachelor Degree & a minimum of 1 year lab animal exp or veterinary exp.
  • Interpret medical orders, accurately calculate pharmacologic doses and administer medications.
  • The ability to understand medical orders both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of different drug classifications.
  • The ability to perform physical exams on various animal species.
  • The ability to routinely lift more than 50 lbs.
