Public Health Laboratory Coordinator 

About the Role

We're seeking experienced laboratory professionals to serve as liaisons between local public health laboratories and the state's Center for Laboratory Sciences. This position combines hands-on laboratory knowledge with coordination responsibilities, helping ensure laboratories across the region maintain operational excellence and regulatory compliance.

You'll act as a trusted partner and resource for laboratory directors and staff, facilitating connections, delivering technical guidance, and ensuring laboratories have the support they need to fulfill their public health mission.


Compensation: $40-$45/hour
Employment Type: 2 year contract 
Location: Remote (Sacramento, CA)
Hours: M-F 8-5


What You'll Do

Relationship Management & Communication

  • Serve as the designated liaison for laboratories within your assigned geographic area.
  • Maintain regular contact through weekly touchpoints and quarterly on-site consultations. (1 site visit/week)
  • Document findings and recommendations following facility visits (turnaround: two weeks).
  • Submit weekly operational summaries highlighting laboratory needs and status updates.

Technical Support & Compliance

  • Guide laboratories through state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Support grant administration activities, including periodic reporting and project evaluations.
  • Coordinate mandatory training schedules based on certification requirements.
  • Assist with continuity planning and emergency preparedness documentation (annual review cycle).

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in biological sciences, chemistry, public health, or related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum three years of hands-on experience in public health or clinical laboratory environments (non-academic settings).

Preferred Background

  • Laboratory supervision or coordination experience.
  • Project or program management experience.
