Our client, a leading manufacturer in the cosmetics and personal care industry, is hiring Quality Lab Technicians to join their growing team in Roanoke County, VA. This company offers excellent hands-on training, robust career advancement opportunities, and a strong track record of contract employees converting to permanent hires.

This position begins with participation in a specialized water skid testing project, followed by transition into the main Quality Lab Tech schedule.

Initial Project Schedule:
  • Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM for 8 consecutive days
  • 1 day off, then a few additional days for validation testing
  • After project completion, transition to standard weekend schedule

Shift: 2nd & 3rd shifts
Standard Schedule is F/Sa/Su 3x 12-hour shifts (3p-11p) with a half day on Monday (roughly 4 hours to log a full 40 hours per week)
Pay: 23/hr. with a 0.75 shift differential

Key Responsibilities
  • Test and evaluate bulk and finished products for pH, viscosity, odor, color, and appearance (cloudiness).
  • Prepare and standardize percent solution formulas for dyes and provide specifications to Compounders for accurate batch coloring.
  • Generate and review Certificates of Analysis (C of A) for outgoing bulk materials.
  • Perform retesting of products as needed; document results and manage sample status in AS400.
  • Identify and document nonconforming materials by issuing NCMRs (Non-Conformance Material Reports); communicate findings to Customer Service and Purchasing.
  • Maintain and manage standards, samples, and laboratory records.
  • Support regulatory and quality compliance through strict adherence to cGMPs and company policies.
  • Participate in annual recertification for “Certified Nose” and “Certified Color Vision.”
  • Perform other lab and quality duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field and 1+ year of lab experience in cosmetics, pharmaceutical, or related QA/QC industry; or
  • High School Diploma/GED with 3–5 years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Strong ability to perform basic math and data calculations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, AS400, and exposure to databases such as SAP, Interspec, or QCBD.
  • Skilled in use of counting scales, RF scanners, and lab instrumentation.
  • Team-oriented, organized, and detail-focused with strong communication skills.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and continuous improvement.
  • Flexible to work overtime and weekends as needed.
