Maintenance Mechanic (2nd Shift)

We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for our client - a leader in the beauty and personal care industry - to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of manufacturing equipment. This role involves performing regular maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and implementing corrective actions. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for minimizing downtime, maintaining production efficiency, and adhering to all safety protocols while performing repairs and equipment upkeep.

Location: Cook County, IL
Shift: Monday - Thursday (4x10 schedule, 2nd shift): 3pm - 2am
Rate: $30 - $35/hr + $0.50 differential
Type: Contract to hire

Duties:

• Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Diagnose equipment failures efficiently and accurately by identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions to resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
• Collaborate with the MRO Buyer and Maintenance Planner to ensure timely availability of parts and tools, supporting inventory control and minimizing equipment downtime.
• Document all maintenance activities within the CMMS, including work orders, parts usage, and corrective actions, to maintain accurate and complete service records.
• Follow all safety protocols and regulatory requirements during maintenance operations, conduct routine safety inspections, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements: 

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 3+ years of experience performing equipment maintenance and repair in a manufacturing environment with hands-on experience utilizing a CMMS
• Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office and CMMS software
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
