R&D Manager (Chemistry)

💰 $90,000 – $100,000 + Benefits
🕒 Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

We are seeking a hands-on R&D Manager to lead research and product development initiatives within a dynamic manufacturing and research environment. This role is ideal for an experienced chemist who has successfully taken projects from concept through validation and implementation and is ready to step into a leadership position while remaining technically engaged in the lab.

The ideal candidate will combine strong scientific expertise with leadership capability, guiding a small team while driving innovation, product development, and process improvements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead research and development projects from concept through validation and implementation

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a small team of chemists and laboratory staff

  • Design and execute experiments, analyze data, and interpret results to support product and process innovation

  • Develop new formulations, materials, or processes aligned with business objectives

  • Troubleshoot technical challenges and optimize existing products or manufacturing processes

  • Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and ensure adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, and regulatory teams

  • Present technical findings, project updates, and recommendations to leadership

  • Evaluate and prioritize R&D initiatives based on business needs, technical feasibility, and available resources


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a chemist in an industrial, manufacturing, or research environment

  • 1–2 years of leadership experience (team lead, project lead, or supervisory role)

  • Experience developing projects from concept through validation and implementation

  • Strong knowledge of experimental design, laboratory best practices, and data analysis

  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with product development or formulation chemistry

  • Familiarity with regulatory and quality compliance standards

  • Ability to manage multiple R&D projects simultaneously

  • Experience working in a research or manufacturing environment
