Pay Rate Low: 20 | Pay Rate High: 25

The Part-Time Laboratory Technician supports food safety and quality operations by performing routine laboratory testing and documenting results for in-process and finished products. This role assists with monitoring laboratory instrumentation, maintaining accurate data records, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. 

Located in Indianapolis, IN

Schedule: Weekends (Saturday & Sunday), 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Hours: 16–24 hours per week
Assignment Duration: 4-month contract to start, with potential extension based on business needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine food safety and quality testing on in-process and finished products.

  • Document laboratory test results accurately in databases and communicate findings verbally and in writing.

  • Monitor laboratory instrumentation and check equipment performance to ensure proper functioning.

  • Follow safe laboratory practices to protect personnel and maintain a compliant work environment.

  • Assist with routine maintenance, calibration, and preventive checks of laboratory equipment.

  • Support product trials and experiments under the direction of senior laboratory staff.

  • Review data and assist in identifying irregular or atypical test results.

  • Maintain laboratory supplies by tracking inventory and assisting with ordering and stock management.

  • Provide basic clerical, technical, or administrative laboratory support as needed.

  • Assist with weekend coverage and occasional PTO coverage for the laboratory team.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.; Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • Basic understanding of laboratory procedures or related work experience.

  • Experience in a laboratory or food manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation or quality testing procedures.

  • Knowledge of laboratory quality systems or ISO standards (such as ISO 17025).
