Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Duration: 6-month contract
Position Overview
The Procurement Expeditor is responsible for driving on-time delivery of purchased materials by actively managing supplier commitments and expediting open purchase orders. This role ensures continuity of supply by resolving late orders, mitigating shortages, and coordinating closely with Procurement, Planning, and Operations teams.
This is a highly execution-focused role requiring strong supplier communication, urgency, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase Order & Delivery Management
- Own and manage the late purchase order (PO) queue, identifying root causes and driving recovery actions (pull-ins, split shipments, premium freight when approved).
- Proactively expedite open POs to ensure alignment with required delivery dates and production needs.
- Verify PO coverage for materials below safety stock levels; partner with Buyers to create or adjust orders as needed.
- Obtain and confirm supplier acknowledgements (price, quantity, delivery date) and ensure accuracy in ERP systems.
- Track inbound shipments, including ASN/ship notices and carrier details, and escalate delays within 24 hours.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date delivery dates in ERP/MRP systems.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for suppliers on delivery status, commitments, and recovery plans.
- Lead regular supplier follow-ups and calls to address past-due orders, backorders, and at-risk materials.
- Re-engage dormant or low-activity suppliers to validate readiness, lead times, and supply capability.
- Drive accountability for supplier commitments and escalate issues per defined processes.
- Partner with Procurement, Planning, and Operations to prioritize critical materials and support production schedules.
- Monitor and manage material shortages and at-risk inventory, ensuring timely recovery actions.
- Support premium freight requests with clear business justification and required approvals.
- Identify gaps in system data (lead times, safety stock levels, planning parameters) and communicate updates to Buyers.
- Maintain and publish expedite and shortage reports, including late POs, inbound ETAs, and recovery timelines.
- Track supplier delivery performance and commitment accuracy.
- Provide clear updates to stakeholders on risks, delays, and recovery progress.

Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or Associates Degree
- 3+ years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Materials, or Production Planning within a manufacturing or distribution environment
- Proven experience expediting purchase orders and managing supplier delivery performance
- Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Infor, etc.)
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, lookups, filters)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to drive supplier accountability
- Strong sense of urgency, organization, and attention to detail
- Experience with supplier reactivation or supplier performance improvement
- Knowledge of MRP concepts (safety stock, lead times, min/max planning)
- Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools
- Understanding of logistics, Incoterms, and premium freight processes
- Occasional after-hours communication with global suppliers across time zones
- Periodic time on the production floor to validate material availability and status
