Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join our team at a leading food manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for overseeing daily QA operations, ensuring regulatory and food safety compliance (FDA, FSMA, GFSI), and driving continuous improvement initiatives to uphold the highest quality standards across products and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily QA activities to ensure product quality and food safety standards are consistently met
- Monitor production lines for compliance with GMP, HACCP, and company SOPs
- Lead investigations and resolution of quality issues, customer complaints, and non-conformances
- Coordinate inspections, sampling, testing, and release of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods
- Maintain and support food safety programs including allergen control, sanitation, traceability, and supplier verification
- Conduct internal audits and support external audits (FDA, third-party, customer audits)
- Train and mentor QA technicians and production personnel on quality and food safety standards
- Maintain accurate QA documentation (batch records, COAs, deviation reports, etc.)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Production, and Supply Chain to address quality-related matters
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory and QA equipment
- Assist in developing and maintaining product specifications, particularly for food coloring and confectionery formulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of quality assurance experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of FDA regulations, HACCP, GMP, and GFSI standards (SQF, BRC, etc.)
- Experience building out a HACCP plan completely and leading audits
- Experience with root cause analysis and CAPA processes
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and QA systems (LIMS, ERP, etc.)
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with strong attention to detail
