We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Auxiliary Operator to support the operation and maintenance of a power generation facility. Reporting to the Operations Shift Supervisor, this role is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment associated with plant systems.


Located in Chapel Hill, NC

1 Year ​​​​​​​Contract Position
Rotating Shifts:
7am-7pm and 7pm-7am
Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of the power plant, auxiliary systems, and balance of plant equipment from outside the control room
  • Perform start-up, operation, and shutdown of plant systems in accordance with established procedures and technical manuals
  • Monitor and record local operating parameters, making adjustments as needed to maintain optimal performance
  • Support Control Room Operators in the operation of the facility with minimal supervision
  • Operate and maintain plant equipment, including local operation via PLC panel interfaces
  • Communicate plant conditions, abnormalities, and equipment issues to Control Room Operators in a timely manner
  • Troubleshoot and assist with repair of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to enter and track maintenance data in alignment with facility standards

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and minimum of 2+ years of experience in power plant operations or a related industrial environment OR a technical degree in a related field
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems
  • Understanding of power plant operations and processes
