Pharmacy Technician II

Position Overview
A well-established healthcare organization in Long Beach is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to support its sterile compounding operations. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the technician will play a critical role in the preparation and dispensing of IV medications, injectable therapies, and chemotherapy agents in a cleanroom environment. All work is performed in compliance with USP <797> and USP <800> standards.
Type: 6 Month contract (Possibility for extension) | Long Beach, CA · On-site | M–F, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and package sterile IV and injectable medications in a controlled cleanroom setting.
- Compound chemotherapy and biohazardous drugs in accordance with institutional protocols and USP <797>/<800> standards.
- Maintain proper garbing and cleanroom etiquette throughout shifts (approximately 5–6 hours of compounding per day).
- Handle hazardous medications using full PPE (gowns, gloves, masks, etc.) per institutional policy.
- Collaborate with pharmacy staff to ensure accurate, timely medication preparation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license in good standing with the California Board of Pharmacy.
- Minimum 1-year of hands-on pharmacy technician experience.
- Familiarity with sterile compounding, IV preparation, or oncology pharmacy preferred.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary vocational/specialized pharmacy training or graduation from a foreign school of pharmacy also accepted.
