Position Summary
Our client, global, research-driven pharmaceutical manufacturer, is seeking a talented and experienced Scientist III to support the development of protein biotherapeutics in a fast-paced research environment. This role focuses on designing and executing protein purification and analytical strategies, as well as interpreting experimental and production data to better understand protein attributes and physicochemical stability.

Location: Fairfield County, CT
Pay rate: $49-$52/hr
Job type: Contract 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, plan, and execute purification of biotherapeutic proteins using chromatography methods, including affinity capture, SEC, CEX, AEX, MMC, and HIC
  • Troubleshoot complex purification challenges and contribute to downstream process development and optimization
  • Perform analytical characterization to assess protein purity, stability, and quality using techniques such as HPLC-SEC, SDS-PAGE, CGE, and DLS
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data to evaluate protein behavior under various process conditions and recommend next steps
  • Present findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams within Biotherapeutics Discovery
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve productivity, quality, and consistency of purification processes
  • Develop and refine analytical methodologies to enhance team capabilities
  • Support broader research efforts related to protein structure, stability, dynamics, and function
  • Improve data quality and throughput through automation, scripting, and workflow optimization
  • Provide protein purification and biochemistry support to internal stakeholders as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with SOPs, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

Education Requirements (Non-PhD candidates only):
  • Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline with 3+ years of experience, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of cell culture fundamentals
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques
  • Experience working with plate-based formats (24-well, 96-well)
  • Knowledge of DNA and molecular biology, including basic DNA quality assessment
  • Experience with automation or high-throughput antibody expression is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in team-oriented environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Accurate and concise documentation and reporting of technical data
