Flavor Laboratory Technician

Location: Cincinnati, OH
Team: Science & Technology
Pay Rate: $24–$26/hour
Schedule: 1st Shift — Flexible Hours
Contract: 6 months to start, with potential for extension
Start Date: ASAP / Flexible

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Flavor Laboratory Technician to join the Science & Technology team in Cincinnati. This position will support flavor preparation, laboratory organization, customer briefs, applications needs, technology performance assessments, and quality control activities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, an organized approach to laboratory work, and an interest in flavor preparation and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

Flavor Preparation & Evaluation

  • Prepare flavor samples based on customer briefs, application needs, technology performance assessments, QC standards, physical testing, and other laboratory requests.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for providing timely flavor samples to other laboratories and internal functions.
  • Maintain accurate formula records and brief documentation using company database systems, including Athena, Atlas, and Lot Number records.
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date inventory of raw materials within the laboratory.
  • Maintain an organized collection of flavor samples to support quick response to customer briefs and application requests.
  • Assist with applying flavors to food products as assigned.
  • Participate in the evaluation of flavors in food products and provide feedback regarding flavor performance.

Laboratory & Safety

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly laboratory environment.
  • Follow Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) policies and good laboratory practices.
  • Ensure laboratory materials and samples are properly organized and maintained.

Qualifications

Education

Candidates should have one of the following:

  • High School Diploma
  • Polytechnic degree
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field

Experience

  • High School Diploma: 1–5 years of experience in a laboratory, production, or related environment.
  • Polytechnic or Bachelor’s Degree: 0–2 years of experience in a food applications laboratory or related environment.
