Scientific Software Sales Manager

A leader in computational chemistry and AI-powered drug discovery software is seeking a Scientific Software Sales Manager to drive revenue growth across pharma, biotech, and research markets. This is an ideal opportunity for a high-performing seller who excels in technical, consultative sales.

Location: San Diego or San Francisco, CA
Compensation: $150K base + quarterly commissions with uncapped earning potential
Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard business hours
Field Expectations: Approximately 2 days per week in the field between San Francisco and San Diego


About the Role

You will own a portfolio of high-value accounts and be responsible for new business development, account expansion, and closing complex scientific software deals. You’ll work directly with R&D leaders and computational chemistry teams to position solutions that accelerate molecular design.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and acquire new accounts across pharma, biotech, and academia.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial outreach through close, including renewals and upsells.
  • Engage scientific decision-makers, including computational and medicinal chemists.
  • Deliver product demonstrations that clearly communicate value and ROI.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support evaluations and customer success.
  • Develop territory and account plans to meet and exceed revenue targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computational Chemistry, or related scientific backgrounds are welcomed.
  • 5+ years of scientific software sales experience within drug discovery, computational chemistry, or a similar scientific software market.
  • Proven success selling into pharma and biotech using a consultative, solutions-focused approach.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
